hamster huey and the gooey kablooie

MK's hamster has developed a taste for blood. Or rather, she thinks that human skin is the perfect way to help whittle down her incisors, much to our chagrin. Since coming home from the pet store last week she's aleady spent a fair amount of time nibbling on MK's fingers, and she also had a go at Cheong Bae when he was over a few days ago to look at my computer. She hasn't shown much interest in my own phalanges - or at least that seemed to be the case until earlier this evening. She made a few darts forward and back before finally biting down hard on my left pinky - using enough force to draw blood and leave two small holes in my finger. So much for being her favorite.

However, it does make a nice complement to the three other fingers that have required band-aids since the start of the week. The worst of the batch came on Sunday, when MK accidentally stabbed me with one of her fingernails. I had gone out to warm up her car and drive it up to the door so she wouldn't have to walk as far in the cold and snow, but when she went to grab her keys she caught me as well. The second took place at work, while number three came from picking up broken pieces of glass in our apartment. In addition to that, while clearing out Wendy's car after the accident some glass from her windshield caught my new winter coat and made a small incision in the front. I don't seem to be having much luck with silica-based materials these days.

It could have been worse, right?
Plus, you were there to take care of me afterward. I think that makes it okay.

I don't try to live dangerously, it just happens.
Maybe I'm just really accident-prone?
