jump, jive, and wail

It snowed this morning. After several false alarms a light, slushy layer of white covered the cars parked outside our apartment; enough to get people talking, but not enough to leave an impression. However, if the recent rainstorms in the western half of the state pass this way we may end up with a white Thanksgiving this year.

Tonight I went out to the Moscow Social Club with MK to celebrate the start of our three-day weekend by dancing. A swing band was there playing, and the atmosphere was noticeably different as a result. We danced east coast swing, salsa, waltz, and lindy hop as the night wore on, plus I finally led a yoke without messing it up horribly. I had such a fantastic time. There were quite a few songs I remembered from my own time playing in a swing band ("One O'Clock Jump", "Chattanooga Choo Choo", and "It Don't Mean a Thing" among others) which half-caused me to sing along with a few of the intros in front of MK. Oops. "Sing, Sing, Sing" was by far the best piece, as we switched back and forth between east coast and lindy, used a variety of moves, and just had a great time overall. It's a shame the Moscow Social Club doesn't have its own house band; I hope the band tonight will be back in the future.

Oh, and I also discovered the consequences of having melted chocolate and peanut butter find their way inside a cell phone - not my own, fortunately.

One of the things I look forward to the most each week is going out dancing with you; to do that with a live band playing just added to the moment. Do you plan to be here next year when the band plays again?

I've had chocolate melt in my pocket before and yeah, it's not much fun. It did give you a nice peanut butter smell though.
