update from the road

I'm borrowing a wireless connection from a Super 8 Motel on my drive back home to check on the World Cup scores. As I'm already online it only seemed appropriate to leave a message on livejournal since I have a few extra minutes. It's 38° C (102° F) with cloudless skies here in Ellensburg and I can't wait for both dusk and the temperature to fall. Standing outside at the petrol station was enough to make me wonder if I wasn't melting from the heat.

Two quick messages. Super 8 Motel, I love you. Italy, I hate you. That's all for now.
Back to the shimmering asphault, then.

after watching the game between italy and australia, i hate italy now, too! argh. i guess if i were an italian fan, i'd be laughing my ass off at their sheer slyness but this sure doesn't do anything for friendly matches. i hope they lose BAD against ukraine, but i suppose they won't. sadness. argh, damn italianses.

Seconded. I could only watch the first 20 minutes of the game, but from what I hear -- and not just from the Aussie side -- that foul that gave Italy the penalty kick was pretty damn sketchy. Australia really got the short end of the stick at the WC as far as refs are concerned.

Where exactly is "home" then?

And the Italians prevented me to sleep the other day!

I use the word 'home' to refer to a few different places.

I'm currently attending university in eastern Washington State (Pullman) - and as that's where I keep 90% of my belongings I guess that would be the default location. If I wasn't attending school I would still be living in west-central Washington State (Olympia) - and that's where I've spent most of my life. For 'hometown' I switch between using Olympia and a tiny logging town on the Pacific coast of Washington (Forks) - where I also spent time growing up.

Thanks for the details :)
An old penpal of mine moved to Olympia a couple of years ago... funny to meet a second person from the exact same city.

Where was your friend moving from?
Who knows, perhaps we even crossed paths at some point ...

From Poland :)

I don't think I met anyone from Poland while living in Olympia, but it's not like I ask everyone where they're from when I first meet them. ;)
