les genoux

It's almost four o'clock in the morning and my joints hurt so much that I haven't been able to fall asleep. This wouldn't be so bad if it weren't for the fact that I didn't get any sleep last night and only got four hours of rest on Saturday. I really want to sleep, but I can't.

We resumed work on our archaeology dig on Monday, although it's a pain trying to differentiate between flake tools, core tools, proximal flakes, flake shatters, angular shatters, and other assorted lithic products. Good luck trying to find a bulb of percussion on a stone artifact with measurements of less than 2cm in each direction. Unless of course it's not evidence of lithic technology in the first place - which might be the case. Unfortunately, one girl in our group keeps making assertions about our site to the professor and teaching assistant which seem unfounded given the evidence we've found so far, and while it's nice that she's thinking up interpretations I would much prefer if she didn't phrase everything in the plural. ("we think ...")

There was also another guest lecture in the afternoon, but more on that later.
